Explanation of the text 1 Thess 3:3 Disturbed by Troubles

1Th 3:3  that none of you might be unnerved by your present trials: for you yourselves know that they are our appointed lot. Weymouth N.T.
1Th 3:3  so that these troubles don't disturb any of you. You know that we're destined to suffer persecution. GW

Question 1. Why should we be disturbed by the warning of trials for Christians?
Paul and Silas had warned the young Church during their three week stay in Acts 17. They were worried that the church had suffered real damage during the time of the Satanic Blockade in 2:18.

"Lest you had been shaken" or "disturbed"; 'placed into a confused state by such a smooth talker' Commenatry by Leon Morris.

v.3.b for you yourselves know that afflictions are our appointed lot.

Question 2.: Why should God allow Christians to undergo severe trials?
What a destiny - persecution. What an appointment?  To be harassed, chased, suffer as a Christian.

IN Romans 5:3 we read "Sufferings produce perseverance."
IN Romans 8:35 " Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine, or nakedness, or danger or sword?
Philippians 1:17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition - so that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.
Here in Thessaloniki persecution whether from family or the society in general had shaken the believers.

1Th 3:4  For even when we were with you, we forewarned you, saying, "We are soon to suffer affliction;" and this actually happened, as you well know.

We don't generally expect trouble and trials for Christ's sake but so many around the world have to support this on a daily basis. This Morning we read: "Our house was burned down, our cows were killed, and I had to flee and lost everything I owned," said an 80 year-old Christian Widow in Myanmar (Burma), recalling the second time her village had been attacked. Displaced since 2012, she is from the Kachin ethnic group, who are being repeatedly attacked by the Myanmar Armed forces, even in the camps for displaced people. . "I still have faith in God, but sometimes it is very difficult for my family and the Kachin people." Please Pray for me too.
