Explanation of the Text 1 Thess 2:4 Why was Paul approved?

1Th 2:4  But as God tested and approved us before entrusting us with His Good News, so in what we say we are seeking not to please men but to please God, who tests and approves our motives.

But = on the contrary
as God tested and approved us before entrusting us with His Good News, ( we speak as men approved by God... N.I.V.  as God has tested and approved us W.N.T. 
Because they had been tried and tested and approved by God Himself.

so in what we say we are seeking not to please men but to please God, who tests and approves our motives. 

So we speak. [houtos laloumen] Simple yet confident  claim to loyalty to God's Call and Message. Surely this should be the ambition of every true preacher of the Gospel of God. RWP.

not to please men but to please God. Few Temptations attack a preacher more than this.
Gal.1.10 If I still please men then Christ's bondman I am not.
Don't be a man - pleaser but a GOD PLEASER.
