Explanation of the Text: 1 Thess.4.:9-10 Love the Brotherhood

1Th 4:9  But on the subject of love for the brotherhood it is unnecessary for me to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another;
1Th 4:10  and indeed you do love all the brethren throughout Macedonia. And we exhort you to do so more and more,

Notes v.9. Brotherly Love or Love of the brotherhood.
Because we all have one Heavenly Father, we are Brothers and Sisters in Christ. We have been born again by the Spirit of God and this relationship will last for eternity.

 v.10  Notes. you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another;  Even though the Apostles Paul and Silas or even Timothy, were not present God was teaching them to put brotherly love into action.

 and indeed you do love all the brethren throughout Macedonia.
Because of their abounding and overflowing Love for the Brethren, then the other believers in Macedonia were recipients of the Gracious Love of God flowing to them.

And we exhort you to do so more and more,  WNT.  (So, we entreat or urge you , brothers and sisters, to thrive even more and more.) Shogren.
The Apostles recognised they were doing a a great job loving one another. All they needed to do was to encourage them to excel to a greater degree. Cp.  Php 1:9  And it is my prayer that your love may be more and more accompanied by clear knowledge and keen perception, for testing things that differ, 
Php 1:10  so that you may be men of transparent character, and may be blameless, in preparation for the day of Christ, 

1Th 3:12  and as for you, may the Lord teach you to love one another and all men, with a growing and a glowing love, resembling our love for you.

1 Thess 2:7 On the contrary, in our relations to you we showed ourselves as gentle as a mother is when she tenderly nurses her own children W.N.T. 1Th 2:7  even though as apostles of Christ we could have made demands on you. But we were gentle when we were with you, like a mother taking care of her children. GNB Instead of using authority, we used only the most kind and gentle methods to win you and to promote your peace and order. The word here rendered “nurse,” may mean any one who nurses a child, whether a mother or another person. It seems here to refer to a mother (compare 1Th_2:11), and the idea is, that the apostle felt for them the affectionate solicitude which a mother does for the child at her breast. Paul and Silas arrived in Thessaloniki after walking about 144 kms from Philip-pi where they had been abused, bashed and imprisoned unjustly.
